Community

BMJ Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. is proud of the community volunteer efforts from our staff.

These are just a few examples of our volunteer work in the community:
 

  • Organizing an annual flower sale fundraiser is just one of the activities Carolyn R. Hunter has conducted as a member of the St. Clair Women’s League.  She is also a member and past President of the Rotary Club of Marysville. Carolyn served on the Blue Meets Green Economic Development Strategic Plan for St. Clair County, Michigan.
     

  • Vice President, Robert J. Arnold played baseball for the Welkin Base Ball Club of Port Huron which recreated how baseball was played in the 1860’s. The club participated in fundraisers and raised history awareness.  Robert helped Brennan Fisher with his Eagle Scout Project in Pine Grove Park, by delivering the cement needed to set the Chess Board tables. Robert has also assisted in the Orthopedics & Associates 10k Fun Run by providing a high accuracy baseline for race organizers to calibrate their distance measuring devices.

  • Raising funds for the annual Port Huron March of Dimes Jail and Bail fundraiser is a favorite charitable event for  President Philip J. Porte.  Philip served as the Vice President of the Eastern Region of MSPE. Currently, Philip is the current President of the MSPE Blue Water Chapter.

  • Survey Tech Support II, Christopher Fagan is a current board member and American Development Model Coordinator for Port Huron Minor Hockey Association.

  • Controller, Heather Noteboom is a current board member and serves as Treasurer of Memphis Youth Baseball & Softball organization. She also coaches her daughters softball team with MYBSO.

  • Robert J. Arnold, P.S. and Travis R. Pratt, P.S. volunteered time to oversee and measure the strands of popcorn for Marine City during their quest to break the world record of the longest string of popcorn. Read full story here.

  • Sr. Project Engineer Michael W. Quaine participates in the Pine Grove Masonic Lodge's Books for Bikes reading program in Port Huron elementary schools each year. Michael volunteers with the annual MathCounts event which is part of the NSPE education program. He has assisted several Boy Scouts in their Eagle Scout projects. Michael contributes yearly to the Girl Scouts of America, Southeast Michigan Council and occasionally conducts free workshops on shoreline and stream repair. He is also a member of the Port Huron Sail and Power Squadron and is currently serving as secretary.
     

  • Senior Project Engineer Michael P. Donahue participates in the Port Huron Yacht Club Leukemia Camp Fundaiser. He also teaches a Beginning Engineering course at our local Community College.

 

  • Sr. Project Engineer,Patrick R. Phelan coaches baseball for his son's team in Marine City Little League. He has served as the Chairperson of Marine City's Planning Commission, served as a City Commissioner and as interim Mayor of Marine City. Patrick has also served on the council and as council president at St. John's United Church of Christ in Marine City. Patrick is also a member of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County's Audit Committee.
     

We also support many other local charities, organizations and institutions including the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, McLaren Foundation, Lake Huron Medical Center, YMCA, St. Clair County Library System and more.
