Dam Inspections
& Engineering

“We use BMJ because they are quick to see and understand our needs and then provide engineered solutions in a timely and cost efficient manner.” –  BMJ Client

The Thumb of Michigan is not well known for its inland lakes. The rivers that feed many of these inland lakes are low gradient and relatively slow moving.   But these rivers and lakes are valued because they provide recreation and scenery for the hard working and industrious people of the area. The water levels are maintained to provide for flood control, enhanced recreational use, and protection of property values.  Use of dams and lake level structures are an important element to controlling water levels.  The planning, creation, and maintenance of dams and lake level structures is a serious business that deserves close consideration and requires monitoring and reporting of the condition of these structures.

Managing Emergency Action Plans, flooding protection, and the creation of new structures takes thoughtful planning.  BMJ has over 25 years of experience in evaluating, planning, monitoring, and rehabilitating dams and lake level structures in the region.

Whether you have a new structure to plan, an old structure to investigate, or simply an existing dam with the regulatory responsibility to report condition, BMJ Engineers and Surveyors, Inc. has the experience, personnel, and tools to assist you to a successful outcome.
