Parks

BMJ’s planning and engineering for park projects typically includes pathways, drive access, parking, sidewalks, picnic pavilions, beach access, recreation areas, and restroom facilities. Special consideration is given to maintaining Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Some of our successful park projects are the popular Fort Gratiot County Park, which provides 852 feet of beach shoreline with remarkable views of Lake Huron, and Columbus County Park where residents enjoy a sledding hill that was installed alongside the Belle River. BMJ’s park projects also include multiple phases of Goodells County Park, as well as Cottrellville Township Park.

Pathways

Our pathways are often multi-use paths used by walkers, bicyclists, equestrians, cross country skiers, and in-line skaters. Projects are designed utilizing the geometric standards set forth by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO). Designs include providing for the maintenance of local drainage patterns, watercourse crossings, wetland crossings, and roadway underpasses.

BMJ’s accomplishments include the design and construction services for several portions of St. Clair County’s 54-mile paved Bridge to Bay Trail, as well as the Wadhams to Avoca Trail. The Wadhams to Avoca Trail is comprised of 12 miles of a historic rail line and includes the rehabilitation of the 640-foot long and 60-foot high Mill Creek Trestle into a compliant design with decks, rails, and pedestrian overlook areas.
