Surveying Services

The surveying team at BMJ specializes in the following:

ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys: This is a surveying standard jointly approved by the American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) that incorporates elements of the boundary survey, mortgage survey, and topographic survey. This type of survey is most often associated with commercial properties.

As-Built Services: This is a survey that is used to determine if the constructed location of a design element matches the intentions of the designer.

Bathymetric Surveys: This survey is used to determine the depth of a body of water, along with the creation of a map of the topography and features of the bed.

Boundary Surveys: This type of survey is most commonly used by residential clients who plan on installing fences, constructing buildings or additions, or want to know where their property lines/boundaries are.

Condominium Developments: BMJ is a full service planner. We can take a condominium development from concept to construction.

Construction Staking: BMJ interprets construction plans and assists contractors in building a project according to the design.

Deformation/Monitoring Surveys: This survey is used to determine if a structure or object is changing shape or moving.

FEMA Elevation Certificates: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) indicate areas (zones) which are at risk of flooding as a result of a 100 year rainfall event. Obtaining an elevation certificate is the first step in determining if a parcel of land or building structure is subject to the flood zone. This form contains facts needed for the homeowner, municipality, and insurance provider to make informed decisions. In addition, a community must have an official record which shows that new buildings and substantial improvements in identified Special Flood Hazard Areas are properly elevated. This elevation information is needed to show compliance with the floodplain management ordinance.

GPS Services: BMJ provides modern equipment used to measure long distances quickly and accurately on a variety of coordinate systems.

Hazwoper Site Surveys: Our field personnel have been specially trained for their protection against hazardous chemicals, the elimination of hazardous chemicals, the safety of workers and the environment, and in staying in compliance with OSHA regulations to perform survey related functions in hazardous areas.

Land Division Surveys: This survey is for the creation of new parcel(s) of land. These surveys require municipal approval and are regulated by state and local ordinances.

Pipeline Surveys: This type of survey is used to map the as-built location of pipelines in relationship to the legal right-of-way.

Remediation Site Surveys: BMJ has vast experience providing various professional surveying services for former industrial sites undergoing the process of remediation.

Subdivision Developments: BMJ is a full service planner. We can take a subdivision development from concept to construction.

Topographic Surveys: This survey is used to show existing physical features and existing drainage patterns through the generation of contours. This service is usually requested for site plans and for engineering designs.

Wetlands Surveys: This survey is the mapping of wetlands that have been delineated by a specialized wetland consultant.
